Chargers Take 3rd Straight Regular Season Title and 5th in 6 Years
The Georgia Highlands College Baseball Team wrapped up the regular season on Thursday, defeating Gordon State on the road 18-8. The 43-12 Chargers won the regular season title in the GCAA for the third consecutive season, going 23-5 in GCAA play and finishing 9 games ahead of second place South Georgia. This marks the 5th time in the last six seasons that GHC has finished at the top of the GCAA standings. The Chargers will travel to Tifton, GA next week to play in the NJCAA Region 17 Tournament. Head Coach Dash O'Neill had this to say about his team heading into the post season. "These guys did a great job of answering the bell all season long and really responded when they needed to. I'm very proud of them and what they've done thus far, and I'm excited to see them compete in the Regional next week. I know every other team in the league will be gunning for us, and they are all very talented in their own right, so its going to be a battle." The Chargers open regional play on Tuesday at 12PM against the winner of Gordon State vs East Georgia.
