Chargers Topple Tigers in Overtime
Georgia Highlands men’s basketball edged Andrew College 91–90 in an overtime thriller Saturday in Rome, improving to 4–6 in GCAA play with six regular-season games remaining.
The Chargers controlled much of the game, which featured just five ties and five lead changes—most of which came in the final minute of regulation and during overtime. GHC built a 14‑point lead midway through the second half but was unable to fully pull away as Andrew College steadily chipped back, capitalizing on Charger foul trouble and frequent trips to the free throw line.
Overtime stayed razor-tight, with neither team leading by more than two points. Trailing by one with eight seconds left, Justin Goudelock( Athens Academy) grabbed a crucial defensive rebound and pushed the ball ahead to Braylen Smith (Augusta Christian), who knocked down the go‑ahead bucket to secure the win.
Four Chargers finished with double digit points: Goudelock with 26 points, Smith with 15 points, Josh Cooper (Dominon Christian) with 13 and FeRoyre High, Jr (Campbell HS) with 12. Goudelock also chipped in with 10 rebounds.
The Chargers return to action Wednesday at Central Georgia Tech, who sits atop the GCAA standings.
