Snead State Community College
The Georgia Highlands College softball team opened the home portion of its 2026 campaign in strong fashion Tuesday afternoon, earning a sweep over Snead State Community College (AL) at Carol Brown Field in Cartersville. The Chargers secured wins of 3–1 and 6–1, evening their record at 2–2 on the young season.
Offense was scarce early in the opener until the bottom of the fourth, when Ahmani Green (Worth Co. HS) reached on an infield single and later stole second. Mary Cat Kimball (Haralson Co. HS) followed by roping a double into the left‑center gap, bringing Green home for a 1–0 lead.
Snead State answered with a run, but GHC reclaimed control in the sixth. Emma Darrow (South Effingham HS) reached on an error, setting the table for Green, who delivered an inside‑the‑park home run to put the Chargers ahead for good.
The Chargers wasted no time in the second game, striking in the first inning when Darrow singled, advanced to third on a left‑field error, and scored on a fielder’s choice by Ansley Logan (Loganville). Logan again sparked the offense in the third, drawing a leadoff walk, stealing second, and scoring on a double by Green.
From there, Haley Curtis (Dalton) took over in the circle, pitching a complete game. She allowed just one unearned run on five hits, walking one and striking out six in a dominant seven‑inning performance.
Georgia Highlands hits the road this weekend, competing in the Northeast Alabama Classic on Friday and the Gadsden State Classic on Saturday, before returning home on Tuesday, February 17, to host Cleveland State.
