Georgia Highlands College Women’s Cross Country Team Set for Historic Debut
Georgia Highlands College is set to make history this weekend as its inaugural women’s cross country team competes in its first-ever meet. The Chargers will debut at the Mountainside Stride, hosted by Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
Leading the team is Head Coach Katelyn Holcombe, who takes the helm as the program’s first coach. She will guide a talented group of six student-athletes: Abigail Butterfield, Shelby Green, Brianna Lee, Amanda McCormick, Jimena Perez, and Ihla Rizwan.
The Covenant meet marks the beginning of a four-meet debut season for GHC. The Chargers will next compete at Berry College on September 6 in the Equal Distant Meet, followed by a return to Mt. Berry on October 4 for the Berry College Invitational. The historic season will conclude on October 24 in Huntsville, Alabama, at the NJCAA Region XVII Championship.
